1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

TIP

2. Check:

Below the minimum level mark "a" → Add the recommended brake fluid to the proper level.

Front brake

Recommended fluid DOT 4

Rear brake

WARNING

NOTICE

Brake fluid may damage painted surfaces and plastic parts. Therefore, always clean up any spilt brake fluid immediately.

TIP

In order to ensure a correct reading of the brake fluid level, make sure the top of the brake fluid reservoir is horizontal.

Checking the front brake pads

The following procedure applies to all of the brake pads.

1. Operate the brake.

2. Check:

Wear indicator grooves "a" have almost disappeared → Replace the brake pads as a set.

Checking the rear brake pads (YP125R)

The following procedure applies to all of the brake pads.

1. Operate the brake.

2. Check:

Limit 0.8 mm (0.03 in)

The following procedure applies to all of the brake pads.

1. Operate the brake.

2. Check:

Wear indicator groove "a" has almost disappeared → Replace the brake pads as a set.

Checking the front brake hose

1. Check:

Cracks/damage/wear → Replace.

2. Hold the vehicle upright and apply the front brake several times.

3. Check:

Brake fluid leakage → Replace the damaged hose.

Checking the rear brake hose

1. Check:

Cracks/damage/wear → Replace.

2. Check:

Loose connection → Connect.

B. YP250R

3. Hold the vehicle upright and apply the rear brake several times.

4. Check:

Brake fluid leakage → Replace the damaged hose.

WARNING Bleed the hydraulic brake system whenever: The system is disassembled. A brake hose is loosened, disconnected or replaced. The brake fluid level is very low. The brake operation is faulty.
